Trees for Life – Red Squirrel Reintroduction Project
Our Red Squirrel Reintroduction Project is creating new populations of red squirrels in the northwest Highlands by translocating reds from healthy populations in the central Highlands and Moray. We need volunteers each spring and autumn to help with baiting feeders and there may be opportunities to take part in translocations as well.

Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels
The Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels project is working to protect red squirrels in Scotland through controlling grey squirrels and monitoring reds. There are opportunities to take part in squirrel surveys, to trap grey squirrels and various other tasks.
Mid Wales Red Squirrel Partnership
This project is working to protect red squirrels in central Wales through controlling grey squirrels and monitoring reds. There are opportunities to take part in squirrel surveys, to monitor reds at feeding stations, to trap grey squirrels and various other tasks.
Red Squirrels United – nationwide
Red Squirrels United is a new project beginning in 2017. The Wildlife Trusts are hoping to recruit large numbers of people across the country to help monitor both red and grey squirrels. Tasks include recording squirrel sightings, monitoring feeders and camera traps for reds, controlling greys and helping with education initiatives.
