Trees for Life gets rolling with vehicle appeal
How old is your car? Five years old? Ten? Most of us replace our vehicles regularly – but not at Trees for Life. We would rather spend money on trees than on vehicles! That’s why ‘Trooper’– our four-wheel drive – is over 25 years old. Trooper has been our workhorse at our Dundreggan Conservation Estate – ferrying trees, tools, fencing and people to the most remote areas of the estate and beyond. It has carried trainees and volunteers over almost impassable terrain and has enabled us to create, protect and monitor new native forest.
Trooper is on it’s last legs. We need £18,000 to replace it. Please help us buy a new vehicle.
Next year we will be welcoming five trainees to Dundreggan to learn the skills needed to bring back the wild forest to the Highlands and other remote areas. They will be dependent on a 4×4 vehicle to access far flung areas of wild forest and apply their new skills to help the forest spread and thrive.
We need a robust, reliable vehicle for them to use. Your donation would help us buy a new, more economical, tough 4×4 to carry equipment and people over the roughest terrain for another 25 years.
A new vehicle is the only way in which we will be able to get people and equipment to the places where we, and the forest, need them most. By helping us buy a new 4×4 you will be supporting the creation of new forest and homes for rare Highland wildlife, such as red squirrels, pine martens, black grouse and other well loved species.
Did you know that the average lifespan of a car is around 13 years? We’ve made ours last almost twice that. Please help us to replace it now before it breaks down for good.
